The Changing Face of Voucher Code Sites

The Changing Face of Voucher Code Sites

In the past, voucher codes were printed in newspapers or on the back of cereal packets, and diligent bargain hunters collected the discount vouchers over a number of weeks, cut them out and saved them for their shopping trips. The newspaper or cereal offering the discount would see sales rise as people tried to capitalise on the discount.

Historically, vouchers and coupons were used to get money off household goods such as food and detergents. These would only appear as and when the retailer decided and the coupons usually had to be collected over a number of weeks.

However, due to changing shopper trends, consumers are no longer prepared to pay full price for items such as clothing, electronics and holidays. Shoppers now actively seek instant discount codes online.

The voucher code market has well and truly shaken off its cornflake box image.

Today voucher code sites populate the internet giving easy to use vouchers. Bargain hunters simply type the promotional code into the voucher code box at the checkout of an online store and an instant discount is given on the shopping- be it at 9am, 3pm or the early hours of the morning. The cheaper goods arrive directly to your doorstep, meaning you save money without even leaving the house!

The nature of discount vouchers has also changed. As the British public have developed tastes for travel and adventure, brands realising this and offering discount codes for such products. Whilst coupons of the past once offered money off the next purchase of tea bags, online bargain hunters today can get vouchers for money off divorces, alongside offers such as scuba diving or designer clothing for your pet pooch. Travel promotional codes and Spa breaks are also top of the agenda, as people treat themselves to more elaborate ventures at less cost to themselves.

Voucher code sites now feature more shops for more sectors than ever before, allowing users to be ever more adventurous whilst looking after their wallets. Consumers have now come to expect to be able to get discount vouchers on well known brands, as and when they want. If these needs are not met, consumers will turn to alternative competitor brands to fulfill their needs. Recent research by the e-tailing group on shopping cart abandonment has shown that 27% of consumers in the USA study left a purchase at the checkout in order to find discount codes for the product elsewhere. Consumers are simply unwilling to pay full price for certain items they know they can get at a discount.

Shops are also reaping the benefits of giving vouchers online. Having a presence on online promotional code sites can increase sales and portray brands in a more favourable light. Top and niche brands alike are finding increased recognition in the online world.

As voucher code sites develop, consumers will expect to be able to get discounts not only for well known brands, but also more elaborate, adventurous products. Discount vouchers offered will be dictated by consumer want and the changing attitudes and shopping behaviour of the British public.
